General Investigator

As a General Investigator, GS-1810-13, you will perform the following functions:
Serve as team leader for cases that concern extremely sensitive matters related to critical issues. Investigate matters that are assigned or self-generated that may include high profile violations involving extremely complex and egregious behavior. Advise staff and others with new investigative techniques and changes in policy, procedures and precedent cases. Develop training materials and guidelines; make presentations at regional office meetings and at training conferences for the nationwide investigative staff and other agencies; and perform community liaison functions as directed. For the GS-13 grade level, applicants must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, which has equipped the applicant with the competencies required to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience may be obtained from the private sector. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience in performing a variety of tasks which you could have obtained within a public sector and/or the private sector:
(1) Serve as team leader for cases that concern extremely sensitive matters related to critical issues involving health care fraud; (2) Advise staff and act as a training investigator in the areas of health care fraud schemes, trends, and health care fraud investigations; and (3) Investigates matters that are assigned or self-generated that may include high profile violations involving extremely complex and egregious behavior related to health care fraud.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
