When you join Leidos, you join a Fortune 500 company and one of Ethisphere Institute's World's Most Ethical Companies LeidosWe strive to make the complex clear Under the SERAS Contract Air Team, as an Environmental Scientist the selected candidate will perform and manage Air Monitoring and Sampling projects during environmental Emergency Responses, at Hazardous Waste sites, Vapor Intrusion sites and other events in to provide public health and safety.
Liquid and solid sampling is also possible using EPA methods.
Additional responsibilities include air monitoring and sampling design, selection of analytical methodologies, personal protective equipment selection, Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) creation, health and safety plan creation, packing and shipping of equipment, as well as, individual logistical and travel arrangements.
Upon completion of field activities the candidate will also be responsible for data interpretation and report writing.
The Environmental Scientist will also be responsible for maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and minor repair of air sampling and monitoring equipment, and performance of real time environmental monitoring and sample collection activities at hazardous waste sites, and environmental emergency response sites or oil spills.
A wide variety of hazardous materials may be encountered, including toxic industrial chemicals, biological agents, and radioactive materials.
Sampling and monitoring activities using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), up to and including fully encapsulated Level A, will be required.
A moderate amount of travel may be required with little advance notice.
Periodic early morning, evening and weekend extended hours, in a sometimes stressful field environment, may also be required.
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Qualifications Required Skills:
Bachelor of Science Degree in environmental science, chemistry, physical science, or environmental engineering and a minimum of 2 years' relevant experience.
Experience should include:
- Two years experience performing multi-media environmental sampling and monitoring.
- Demonstrated expertise in the preparation of site-specific Quality Assurance Project Plans, site-specific sampling and analysis plans, Health and Safety Plans, and final reports.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to prepare, review, and revise methods or SOPs.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact in a professional manner with Leidos and EPA personnel; federal, state and local authorities; and the general public.
- Successful completion or ability to successfully complete 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training.
- Must be physically capable of performing field work and lifting 50 pounds.
Desired Skills:
Field portable instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and minor repair expertise.
Ability to provide technical support, assist in the maintenance and deployment, of local and remote wireless networks for various environmental projects.
The ideal candidate will possess both environmental and computer skills, but consideration will be given to candidates with either background.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
