Director of Nursing (DON)
Responsibilities of a Director of Nursing (DON):
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the nursing team.
- Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures in accordance with state regulations and best practices.
- Foster a culture of compassion, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and assess resident health, coordinating care plans as needed.
- Ensure compliance with nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and quality care benchmarks.
- Participate in the development and implementation of clinical protocols and best practices.
- Provide leadership and support to nursing staff, including training, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
- Conduct performance evaluations and address staffing needs to maintain optimal staffing levels.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality of care.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Collaborate with other department heads to achieve comprehensive and coordinated care.
- Effectively communicate with healthcare professionals, residents, and families.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless delivery of care.
Qualifications of a Director of Nursing (DON):
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Jersey.
- Experience in nursing leadership roles in a long-term care setting.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations governing long-term care.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to providing resident-centered and quality care.
